Located in the south of Tenerife, Sheraton La Caleta Resort & Spa is situated at the seafront with direct access to the coastline boulevard. The resort is surrounded by a beautiful garden and gives a lovely oasis vibe.
The resort offers 284 rooms and 20 suites featuring private terraces with all amenities and services necessary to have a pleasant stay. At least two accessible hotel rooms on the 2nd floor are available for people with less mobility.
The hotelroom
The adapted deluxe room with garden view is provided with a queen size bed, closet, desk, chair, spacious bathroom with separate restroom and a balcony with seatings. Perfect for a relaxing holiday.
For manual wheelchair-users this hotelroom has enough space but for electrical wheelchairs It could be a bit tight. The roll-in shower has a remote shower chair without wheels but in this case it was pretty unstable. The toilet and bidet are located in one room next to each other and both have handles but were places to far from the toilet seats which makes it a bit hard to use. The height of the bed was also a bit high to make a safe transfer on to the bed. I can imagine for some people this can be convenient but that depends on your disability.
Overall hotel accessibility
Good. The paths in and outside the hotel are rollable but outside not all areas are fully accessible. Some parts do have stairs. A special route for wheelchair users is the only option. All restaurants are accessible. The elevator can be used to go to the pool area.
For breakfast you can visit the restaurant downstairs close to the pool area where the you can pick your own food buffet style or let it be served. Roomservice is also optional for snacks, dinner or breakfast.
Pool area
Two pools are both doable to reach as a wheelchair user. To enter the pool, help is needed. The pools both have stairs to enter the water. The best option is to visit the salt water pool which has a part that is easier to enter to water. With help from someone you could enter the water when being lifted. There is not special pool equipment available.
Experience
A delight to stay at this wonderful hotel with beautiful gardens also when you are a wheelchair-user. Like to see a video about this hotel? Check this video to see the hotelroom and more about traveling to Tenerife in a wheelchair. There is still room to improve this hotel on accessibility (for solo travellers) but nevertheless accessibility is good enough to enjoy with a partner, family members, friends or caretaker.
